This cost includes:
- Purchasing an ocean going container that is eight feet by eight feet by forty feet.
- Delivering the container to the loading site in Lynwood, IL.
- Fumigating the container, which is a requirement if it contains used clothing.
- Processing all paperwork for shipment.
- Shipping the container via truck to the USA port and then via ocean ship to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
- Port and customs clearing charges in Tanzania.
- Shipping the container via rail from Dar es Salaam to Kigoma, Tanzania (650 miles)
- Off loading container in Kigoma port.
To help offset these expenses, we are asking for one dollar per pound of donated goods. This is not manditory but a suggestion to help us get the donated goods to central Africa.
We currently have $4,779.43 in cash donations to this project. (as of March 1, 2008).
