Glen Beck, in his retirement from being a United Methodist pastor, has taken on the ministry of helping local congregations to start mission conferences and to get involved in Faith Promise Giving. He would like to help your church!
Here is how he describes this ministry? Here, in Glen Beck's own word, is how he became highly involved in serving the Lord through the ministry of "MISSION INTERPRETATION".
'Upon my retirement in 1989 I was appointed to launch the pilot program "MISSION INTERPRETATION". The goal was to enhance the total mission vision for the churches of our conference, with special emphasis on faith promise mission concept, a ministry that had been very effective during the last 18 years of my pastorates at Noblesville, Emmanuel, and Good Shepherd Indianapolis. Many churches of our conference are finding this to be an effective tool for mission ministries. Perhaps your church would like to explore the possibility of this ministry for your congregation and you are asking, 'How do we begin'?.
The most effective approach (proven over the last 13 years, working with over 130 churches throughout Indiana) is to first present the concept to the Council on Ministries (Ad Council). I do this as follows:
- This is how I became burdened for missions.
- This is what happened in the local church as we became more intentional in promoting 2nd mile mission giving.
- This is now happening in churches and it can happen in your church.
Then, assuming your church votes to have a faith promise mission conference, my task is to help you find leadership for the event, work with your local planning committee, and finally to come to your conference as a secondary leader. I have led work teams to various mission fields -- Africa, India, Haiti, and National fields in the U.S. Sound interesting? Want more information?
